Dentist Success

I must apologize. To Micah, that is. I totally underestimated him. He was PERFECT at the dentist office...he sat so still and was so cooperative. He was a little unsure of the whole thing at first, but fell in love with the dental hygienist and that made it all better. Paul asked Micah if the girls were sweet to him, and he responded, "Yeah, they were cute." Haha. His Dad agreed :)

Random story from today...Micah and I were playing this afternoon and he is OBSESSED with fighting these days. It kind of drives me nuts because I never know when to expect being hit by something. Plus, we are trying to teach him that he cannot just go up to people and hit them whenever he wants. However, I know it is normal and I do love that he is all boy. Anyway, we were playing with these mini-blocks. He stuck a few together and decided it was his sword. He then proceeded to say to me, "Come on Mom, lets fight. Bring it on." Yes, those were his exact words. I have no idea where he heard that, but I thought it was hilarious.

Barber Shop

I created a homemade barber shop today and I grudgingly gave Micah-man a haircut. Paul was gone working a softball camp, so it was all up to me to get our little monster to sit still...and boy is that a challenge. If you know Micah, you know what I mean-he is one active boy! Last time he did everything but kill me as he swung his hands at me-and with all his squirming, I totally took a chunk out of the side of his hair. I was not about to let that happen again. So maybe I bribed him (just a little) by letting him watch Toy Story and have a lollipop. I know, I know, I'm bad...but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. The lollipop was the trick-it worked like a charm :) Thankfully, we head to the dentist tomorrow morning for his first visit (I'm already praying that will go smoothly)!

Happy 4th

Our friends had a bunch of people over to celebrate the 4th of July. They grilled out for us, which definitely made it seem more like the 4th. We had a fun evening and was glad to have something to do in honor of America :) Unfortunately, the only pictures you get are from our taxi ride as I forgot to take pictures during the night.

Baby Pool Fun

Today we joined our friends and headed back to the baby pool. We were supposed to do this on Tuesday, ended up having to cancel, and quickly rescheduled for Friday. On Tuesday, Micah was one sad little man BUT was so excited when we told him that we would have a pool day on Friday. He didn't quite understand what that meant, but now goes around telling everyone, "Friday, pool day" over and over and over.

This time we had our husbands join us, along with baby Nate, and another family. The kids loved the pool and being sprayed by the hose. We ate lunch together which included some hotdogs (thanks Hawkin's!)-which are hard to find in this area of the world and were so good. We had a great day enjoying friends and sunshine!

Family Outing

After running several errands and eating lunch, we stopped at a little play place for Micah to get some much needed energy out. The rest of us just sat, rested, and enjoyed talking to some local Arabs :)

Casa Aalam...

...means World Cup in Arabic. Last week we went to watch the Brazil vs. Portugal "futball" game up at Sports City with our friend, Katie. There was a small fee to get in, but is was well worth it. The place was packed with people. It was a perfect family atmosphere as they had two huge screens set up to watch the game, blowup slides and a jumping castle, foosball, Wii and Play Stations. Micah had fun running around and playing with his own soccer ball and occasionally sharing it with the local children...we are still working on this whole sharing concept ;) It was a great cultural experience for sure!
