Ramadan started on August 22, therefore, we haven't been allowed to eat or drink in public...or we get arrested. Yes, arrested. From sunup to sundown, Muslims are fasting and it makes for some grumpy taxi drivers at times. However, I have actually enjoyed taxi rides a lot better lately, as I don't come out of the taxi smelling like a ball of smoke (thankfully, they can't smoke during the day either). I was so surprised by the amount of people who smoke here-it is everywhere and I hate it.
Before Ramadan began, we were able to hit up one of the many American restaurants:
Fudruckers. Sometimes, there is nothing like a cheese burger, fries, and milkshake...and this was one of those times. It hit the spot for all of us. It was so nice to have A REAL cheeseburger...Kenya's beef just wasn't quite the same.
After we ate, the workers directed us upstairs to a play area. Micah was a bit scared and stayed on the edge of the tunnels until Daddy came and saved the day. Once Paul went in, Micah crawled around and didn't want to come out. It was a great way to get some much needed energy out before bedtime. :) Ramadan ends in the next week and a half or so, and we so look forward to trying many other restaurants out in town.
