Short, but Sweet

We only had all 15 Akin's together for about 7 hours as Jon and his family had to get back to Nashville for some things. They drove in just for the day, which turned out to be perfect having everyone together for a short time.

We ended our day having dinner with our pastor's family. They were so sweet to host ALL of us crazy Akin's and we all had a great time. The kids ran nonstop and were completely wiped out after we left. Ha.

A House Full

Over Christmas, we planned for the Akin family to come stay with us the week of Easter as it happened to be the same time as Secret Church was being held at our church. We have been counting down the days until the clan arrives, as it's hard for everyone to get off the same time. Over the week, everyone slowly trickled in. This seemed to work out perfectly and we are hoping to do it again in the future. We definitely had a house full and wouldn't have traded it for anything.

Lightning McQueen Surprise

Our friends Josh and Jessica are probably the biggest servants ever. They seriously are too sweet and we just hope one day we can repay them for all they do for us. We love them and enjoy being with them. Our kids are also obsessed with them and Micah constantly is asking, "When are Mr. Josh and Ms. Jessica coming over?" Well, they came over one Sunday afternoon and surprised Micah with another amazing birthday present...a baby pool. But, not just any baby pool...this one was a LIGHTNING MCQUEEN pool with a slide. They hit the spot for this little boy AND this Mom who is dying in this southern heat ;) Josh and Jess blew it up and immediately Micah was in. I only have a few pics from the very beginning as I went inside to clean for company arriving the next day. Sadly, I missed Josh jumping in and sliding down with Micah. They often do remind me of one another...and it scares me just a tad :) Thanks Josh and Jess!

HOP

While we were in Kentucky we decided to take advantage of a rainy day and took Micah to see a movie. Our choices for his age were "Hop" or "Rio", and we decided since it was almost Easter to go see "Hop". Although none of us loved the movie, we still had a great day together as a family. Thanks Blair for the idea :)

Thanks to my best friend, Kristin, for coming over and watching Jordan for me! She is such a servant and always goes out of her way to see me when I come to town. It means a lot! Love you.

A Hawaii Wedding

Well, no, we aren't in Hawaii right now (although I wish we were), but two of our best friends are getting married there in mid-May. It will be absolutely amazing and just gorgeous. My parents threw them a wedding shower in good ole Kentucky, so of course we had to come celebrate with them...especially since we won't make it to their wedding. It was nice to spend quality time with our friends and to see their families. Congrats Josh and Ash-not much longer!!!

one, two, THREE

Happy Birthday to Micah! It's official, our little boy is 3 (who thinks he's at least 5). We were blessed to already be in Kentucky for a speaking engagement at our high school and a wedding shower, so we got to celebrate with lots of family. He was completely spoiled by balloons, cards, gifts and more gifts, cake, phone calls, and LOVE! A perfect day for a perfect (well, almost) birthday boy.

Double the Fun

A definite highlight of our time in Kentucky was getting to meet our new precious TWIN nieces, Milly and Clarabelle. They are the tiniest little things and are just too cute for words. My brother is already such a great Dad, and Sara is the most beautiful, hard working, Mommy. I cannot wait to see them again soon.
