My parents came to town for a few days and we stayed busy. It's amazing how much you can get done with extra hands and help. Along with themselves, they also brought some presents for the little ones. My favorites were these adorable yellow raincoats that got put to good use while they were visiting.
Thanks Poppi and GiGi for all the help and fun we had. Come back soon. We love you.Sunday, January 30, 2011

Yogurt Mountain...
...is pretty much famous in Birmingham. They have ALL sorts of yogurt flavors and a HUGE toppings bar with everything you can imagine. You basically pick a cup size and then get to fill it with whatever yogurt and toppings you want. Then you take it to the register and they weigh it for the price. I like this because you can sort of dictate how much you spend...although, of course it isn't cheap ;) I had been here years ago, but we had yet to return since we moved to Bham. I've been wanting to go for weeks, so it was great to finally return when Andrew and Blair were in town. It didn't let me down. I have a feeling once it warms up we will be visiting more often.

MLK Weekend
My sister and her husband (Blair and Andrew) flew down for the MLK weekend and it was just what I needed. There is just something special about a sister that no one else can understand. We had gorgeous weather in the low 60's, so, much of our time was spent outside. We played about every sport possible with Micah...he wore us out ;) Of course, Blair and I did manage to get some shopping in while the boys watched basketball (and the kids). We also got to enjoy a date night with just the adults...perfection. Hurry back B&A, we miss you!!!

Catching Up
One of my good friends from college, Rachel, is from Birmingham and was in town visiting her family. We got to catch up briefly after church, which was so great but wasn't long enough. We hadn't seen each other in a couple of years (I want to say since 2008) and a lot has happened since then. She is now a married woman and lives in Huntsville-which isn't that far, so hopefully we will get to see each other again sometime soon. LOVE YOU WINNY! :)

A "Taste" of Home
The other day Micah came home from preschool with a rolled up piece of blue construction paper. I almost threw it away as I thought it was just a piece of scrap paper that he had played with at school. Luckily, before my instincts kicked in, I found a note titled "A Taste of Home" in his backpack explaining that I was supposed to decorate it with pictures and/or some of his favorite things. His teacher then would have it eliminated and it would serve as his placemat for snack and lunch time. What a creative idea. Ours is very basic, but it's perfect for our 2 year old.

Bowl Game Blues
Literally. We all know UK football was horrible this year, but we still were excited to have Kentucky play their bowl game in Birmingham. It was fun seeing signs around the city with "UK" on it-made it sort of feel like home. However, it was NOT a fun game with a happy ending. Paul went with one of our friend's and I was thankful that I didn't go. I dressed the kids in our UK blue, met a friend for lunch, and then happily watched some of it on TV. Paul actually ended up leaving early because it was freezing, and boring, and lame and UK stinks ;) I still will say, "GO CATS"!!!

Off to...
...PRESCHOOL!! Ah. Can you believe it? I sure can't. We decided to enroll Micah-man into preschool for two days a week. I'm sure we won't send all our kids this soon. However, Micah is a fast learner and we really felt he could use the extra challenge plus interaction with other kids. Here is our big boy about to walk out the door off to school :)

Nothing Like a Good Hike...
...to start off the New Year :) We live really close to a State park and have been wanting to check it out, but just hadn't gotten around to it. However, we took advantage of some warmer winter weather and decided to take our kiddos on a little hike. The State park was HUGE with lots to do, so I have a feeling we will be back to explore in the near future.
