This past weekend we decided to take a short camping trip a few hours away from the city. We have been wanting to do this for awhile, but had not gotten around to doing so yet. We contemplated on whether or not to take Micah, but at the last minute some of our friends offered to keep him for the night, which ended up being a huge blessing. I was a bit nervous about how he would do with another family, but he was great for them-which is a huge relief for me! I was worried he would not sleep, but I should not have doubted him as he proved me totally wrong and slept from 645pm-9am! They also have 4 dogs, a rabbit, a cat and two kittens, a bird, and a bunny-so plenty of animals to keep him entertained!
Anyway, we had such a fun time camping as you can see from the pictures below. The weather was perfect too which made it extra nice. I don't remember the last time I went camping and it was a much needed break from city life!

Our campsite
Our good friend, Rebecca, who went with us.
Getting ready to take off on our boat ride to see some hippos. We also saw a lot of zebras but they were too far away to get a good picture.
HIPPOS-we probably saw at least 20 of them. It was fun to see them, but they are huge and scary! They stay in the water all day, but at night time they come on land to graze on grass. We definitely saw one about 80ft away at night, we walked a bit closer to get a look at it and thankfully there was a fence between us. The next morning we were told by fellow campers that a hippo had just walked through the middle of our campsite-we were very thankful we were in our tents at that time.
Getting ready to cook dinner.

What a great get-a-way! Camping is always so fun. Glad you guys had a good time and that the hippos didn't attack. Those things are crazy strong. Also glad to hear Micah-man was good. Our trip to you is getting close. Can't wait to play with animals in Africa!
